Bothwell Tanaka Phiri

Profile

Bothwell Tanaka Phiri is one of the original figures behind the birth of Shekwe and Valley Panthers FC.

A tough, intelligent and disciplined defensive midfielder, Bothwell provided the protection in front of the backline, breaking up attacks and giving the team the balance and security it needed. His commitment, toughness and understanding of the game made him a vital part of the club’s early identity.

His influence extended beyond the pitch. In 2022, Bothwell became the second captain in Valley Panthers FC history, taking on the responsibility of leading the team during a crucial period in the club’s development.

He was also an integral member of the squad that lifted the Chido Mwadiwa Tournament, adding a major piece of silverware to the club’s early history.

As one of the original members who helped give birth to the Shekwe identity, Bothwell’s place in the club’s story goes far beyond his appearances on the pitch.

He was there when Shekwe was being built. He wore the armband when the club was growing. And he lifted a trophy when the Panthers began writing their history.

A captain. A champion. Forever part of Shekwe history.
